Relish & Root Company
Vernon Township, New Jersey, USA
1. Order Processing and Dispatch
All orders are processed and packed at our Vernon Township, New Jersey facility.
-
Processing Time: Orders are typically processed and handed over to the carrier within 1 to 3 business days (excluding weekends and federal holidays) after receiving your order confirmation email.
-
Notification: You will receive an automated notification via email/text containing your tracking number once your shipping label has been printed and your order is ready for dispatch.
2. Shipping Rates and Estimates
Shipping charges for your order—whether domestic or international—will be calculated and displayed dynamically at checkout. We partner with major global carriers (e.g., USPS, UPS, DHL) to provide the most secure transit for our heavy glass bottles.
-
Delivery Times: Estimated delivery times are provided by the carrier and are not guaranteed.
-
P.O. Boxes: We cannot ship heavy agricultural products to domestic or international P.O. Boxes. A physical street address is required for all orders.
3. Climate and Temperature Disclaimers
Extra virgin olive oil is a natural, perishable agricultural product that is highly sensitive to extreme temperatures.
-
Cold Weather: Olive oil can solidify or become cloudy at temperatures below 50°F (10°C). This is a natural reaction. Simply allow the bottle to sit at room temperature until it clears.
-
Hot Weather: Prolonged exposure to high heat (above 80°F) can accelerate the degradation of olive oil, compromising its flavor and shelf life.
-
Customer Responsibility: Relish & Root Company is not liable for product degradation resulting from packages left outside in extreme heat, direct sunlight, or freezing conditions. It is the customer's responsibility to retrieve the package promptly upon delivery.
4. Fragile Goods and Transit Damage
We utilize specialized, impact-resistant packaging to protect our glass bottles during transit. However, breakages occasionally occur during carrier handling.
-
If your product arrives broken or leaking, you must email contact@relishroot.com within 48 hours of the logged delivery time.
-
You must provide clear photographs of the damaged shipping box, the damaged product, and the shipping label to be eligible for a replacement or store credit.
5. Risk of Loss and Stolen Packages
All purchases of physical items from Relish & Root Company are made pursuant to a shipment contract. The risk of loss and title for such items pass to you upon our delivery to the carrier (FOB Origin).
-
Accurate Addressing: We are not responsible for packages delivered to an incorrect or undeliverable address provided by the customer at checkout.
-
Stolen Property: Once a carrier marks a package as "Delivered," Relish & Root Company assumes no liability for stolen or missing packages.
6. International Shipping, Customs, & Import Duties
We proudly ship our premium olive oil worldwide. However, international shipping introduces specific legal and financial responsibilities for the buyer.
-
Duties and Taxes (DDU): All international orders are shipped Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU). The customer is strictly responsible for paying any import duties, customs fees, VAT, or local taxes required by the destination country upon arrival.
-
Agricultural Customs Restrictions: Every country has independent laws regarding the importation of food and agricultural products. It is the buyer's sole responsibility to verify that extra virgin olive oil can be legally imported into their country prior to purchasing.
-
Confiscation & Delays: Relish & Root Company is not responsible for packages that are delayed, held, confiscated, or destroyed by foreign customs agencies. No refunds will be issued for food items seized by customs.
-
Abandoned Packages: If an international shipment is refused by the customer, or returned to us due to unpaid import duties, an incorrect address, or customs rejection, we will not issue a refund for the perishable goods or the shipping costs. The perishable nature of olive oil prevents it from surviving extended, multi-month return transits back to our facility.
